Before pulling off, the truck driver will conduct the following 10 safety checks:

1. Tires and wheels: check for proper pressure, tread depth, and any damage. 

2. Brakes: ensure they are functioning correctly and responsive. 

3. Lights: verify that all headlights, taillights, indicators, and brake lights are working. 

4. Mirrors: adjust to provide clear visibility around the vehicle. 

5. Fluid levels: check oil, coolant, and brake fluid levels. 

6. Windscreen and wipers: ensure the screen is clean and wipers working correctly. 

7. Load security: double check that all load securing devices are tight and intact. 

8. Cab safety: ensure all doors are closed and locked, and that emergency equipment is accessible. 

9. Instruments and controls: verify that all dashboard gauges and controls operate correctly. 

10. Route plan: review the planned route and any potential hazards.
